With that said, here's Kilima's 5 tips on finding the perfect wedding venue:

Billy McKechnie, our Hotelier will be your coordinator, chef and right hand

1. Make it personal

Do not rely on emails alone when you start asking the important questions. It is crucial that you make a phone call, make an appointment and go to the venue. You should feel comfortable with the hotelier/coordinator. Is he/she listening? Is he/she friendly and professional and willing to walk the extra mile for you? Make sure communication are effortless and that you build a trusting relationship.

2. Size matters

The Venue should accommodate your guests easily and align with your vision. It is not only about size, but about the feeling of the place and if you're comfortable with the setup. Do they have alternative options for when it rains? Is there an area for dancing/ smoking etc?

3. Side plates and blind sides

Always find out exactly what is included in the per person fee and make sure there is no hidden costs.

4. Pre-wedding tasting

Do make time to visit the venue before your big day to taste all the food and drink which will be served on your wedding day. Remember, this day is about you and the most important factor should be your happiness. That includes that when you eventually sit down to have dinner, that you'll enjoy every aspect of what is served.

5. Stay true to your dream

Sometimes we need to compromise on one thing, to get the other. The ideal is to compromise as little as possible so that your wedding plays out as you've dreamed it. The venue of your choice should tick all the boxes and the hotelier / organizer and staff should be willing to go above and beyond to ascertain the realization of that dream.
